Wind blows away Zhou’s chances

Shanghai Silport Golf Club, in eastern Jiangsu Province, felt like Carnoustie on Friday. A relentless wind inflated scores up and down the KEB Invitational leaderboard, and Zhou Xunshu could not escape its wrath. Zhou, who shot a 2-over 74 on Thursday, was 10 strokes worse on Friday, his chances of making the weekend cut all but erased after his opening eight holes resulted in five bogeys and two double bogeys. Zhou will now have two extra days to prepare for next weekend’s China Tour event in Xiamen. Many of Zhou’s countrymen — including 2007 China Tour money leader Li Chao — also made an early exit from the tournament that featured the top domestic tour players from China and South Korea. Of the top 70 players only 21 were Chinese.
